88. Fountain of Light

Ripples of cascading, flowing white light
shimmer and sparkle across the carpeted floor
as we sit and are welcomed into the whare
Te Puna i te Ao Marama

The Fountain of Light is the name of this House
apon the lands itself which bear the same name
and dutifully named by the ancestor Kupe
in a beautiful area called the Hokianga

But as the speeches continue and song fills the rafters
and Dame Whina's picture hangs on the wall
the floor of the House is shimmering at me
as though the afternoon Sun sits alongside me

Curiously I look all about me
hoping that others can see what's before me
but alas - they do not, and continue to listen
as the tangata whenua continue to talk

With my bare feet and whilst no-one is noticing
I wiggle - really slowly, some of my toes
and see one pass through this mysterious layer
like a whale or dolphin through the crest of a wave

I am conscious of others, now wary of me
where my wee antics are attracting attention
so slowly, I smile and offer my gratitude
to these beautiful waters who have made themselves known

I reach down, and gently - I now stroke the floor
as though I'm admiring the shag of the carpet
and feel my own heart fill with peace and with beauty
as I gain my composure, and listen to speeches

87. Doorstep of the Sun

Silhouetted by the setting Sun
a figure sits calmly, peacefully
sits on the Doorstep of the Sun
on Mahaukura, the Glowing Threshold

The Eye of the Sun opens
like the Eye of a Needle
an Inferno of Fiery Darkness
of Horrific Life and of Serene Death

Te Kore and Te Po
Te Ao Marama and Whakapapa
Time and Causality
Come together, as One

It is Time without Time
It is a Day inside a Night
a World knowing no opposites or duality

I rage peacefully
I love within anger
I live in the Mind's Eye
of a being long passed, and of a child unborn

*Mahaukura, site on top of Pirongia Mountain, Waikato, New Zealand
*Te Kore (Nothingness), Te Po (Darkness), Te Ao Marama (World of Light), stages of evolution in traditonal Māori history
*Whakapapa (Ancestral lineage/Matrices/Order/Structure/Form)

86. A Shift

Planets and stars move way above me
while ions and particles collide and contract
and the current and tides of the water and air
will bring forth vibrations which break through reality

Experiments begin of a peculiar kind
on the nature of man and connections to Spirit
Breaking dependencies on Mother Nature
and creating a barrier in the Ionosphere

Genetically modified food is now grown
not from her soil but from metal and glass
and nuclear weapons are exploding above us
to alter and fortify the space round the planet

Papatuanuku must come of age
where her body will shift and vibration rises
where we can no-longer rely on those things
which helped us, or served us, or kept us sustained

And so too, will this usher in another new age
which push the boundaries of our bodies and minds
We've been here before and we'll do it again
another new epoch in the lives of wo(man)

85. Te Hokioi

In the afternoon sun I see far below me
mountains and rivers and deep red ravines
From as far away as my own eyes can see
is the distant horizon where the land and sky meet

From far below I look up in the air
and see myself smiling with arms stretched out wide
but my very own silhouette is no-longer my own
bearing feathers which reach from my head to my toes

On the warmth of the winds do I find myself glide
as though I am carried on the backs of a prayer
And towards the Sun and the Creator's own face
do I carry the wishes of the whole human race...

84. Elemental Waka

I te tonga o te rā
ka tae mai te waka
ki te tiki i ngā Ringa o te Ora e

Kia hau mai ki uta
i te karanga o te kuia
kia hoki atu ki Te Ikaroa

Kia kaha e tama
e tere te waka
Aue Maui-tikitiki-ā-Taranga e

Kia eke ki runga
tēnei waka Atua
i mua i te tonga o te rā
i mua i te tonga o te rā

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before the sun sets
the boat will arrive
to collect all the Elementals
Come down to the shore
when the old woman calls out
so we can all go back to the Milky Way for the night
Go hard
steering the boat
You, the vessel of Maui-tikitiki-ā-Taranga
Climb on board
this boat of the Elementals
before the setting of the Sun
before the setting of the Sun
83. Wotty-wot
Deep in a dream I look down at the ground
and see a small shadow on top of my back
Shy and afraid it moves further away
as I try to grab at it, and reach right behind me
Slowly and gently I beckon it round
and coax with a loving and caressing hand
where a little green creature with 6 bulbous eyes
scrambles around to the front of my body
It's tube like antennae wobble and flop
as the little young infant snuggles into my chest
and notice another young thing on my shoulder
whose body resembles a stick like insect
And from the ground I feel another one move
slowly and meekly curling around my left leg
where pitted, small eyes apon it's small head
look up at me shyly, fondly with love
Sensing their fear I look all about me
and see a young guy hunting them down
But it is ok I say to the children
as I call forth a protector whose also a mum
The beauty Medusa appears from the dark
baring a great regal head and locks of long snake
where the children I hold now cover their eyes
as I warn the young hunter he'd best do the same
The thing about fear, if its left to continue
will make you imagine and create bigger foes
But sometimes the simplist things we can do
is look at our fears through a differing lense?
82. Rongomaraeroa
Rongomaraeroa as old as the Universe
sits on my puku (stomach) looking up at the Sky
Like the Moon which shines and glimmers at Night
so too does her hair sit about her own shoulders
And as Brown as the Earth or the feathers of Kiwi
does a korowai dress her beautiful body
And peace and serenity she brings me this night
for a father and son who are strangers no more...
