Te Rakau Matarua is a double edged sword
wielded by gods and goddesses alike
Maori, Egyptian, Indian, African
all the same energy within different races
But hidden within my own dna
I'm taken right back to our very own story
where Tumatauenga, Tane and Rongo
each take a turn in wielding it's power
Its true what they say - it can cut and can thrust
it can defend the weak, and gain people's trust
but once its unsheathed, or the taiaha's raised
one's very own heart is never the same
By divine right and by divine rule
was this weapon passed down unto the gods
Until to their very first human offspring
where she gave her own father, the world's first adam's apple
"It
was that daughter of the first woman and Tane, Hine-ti-tama by name,
who offered up that prayer whereby the Adam's apple was formed in Tane's
throat, and all his descendants, with the exception of the females, who
have none, the reason being because her father lay with her as his
wife, hence her anger, and it was a token of Tane's sin against her" An
ancient Maori poem, by Tuhoto-Ariki, p 56. in the Journals of the
Polynesian Society Volume 16 1907 Volume 16, No. 1 x

81. Waiata Dream Voice
Deep in a dream I move bout the house
with a chorus of words leaving my mouth
I radiate love, light and great power
and feel myself lifting up off the floor
With head thrown back and arms out to the side
I rise in the air staring up at the ceiling
and feeling my body beginning to lift
I feel like a cloud of rain and of mist
"This is too easy" I say to myself
and instruct my own body to turn on it's head
Now upside down I begin to descend
blending and moving down into the ground
Down into darkness my body turns upright
where a Lioness statue stands in the corner
Guardian is she of the entrance below
directing my passage with blazing blue eyes
A lobby or room is my destination
but more than enough for my own curiosity
In the hull of a ship I find myself walking
Poseidon or Tangaroa are guiding me now
An anchor and chain hang from the ceiling
where I hold gently to the Heavens above
and I read and I look at words and of images
scrawled and posted across all the walls
But surely enough I feel round my ankle
some sort of entity chaining my leg
and now I'm aware of why I am here
to have one hand in Heaven and a foot down in Hell...

40. The children of the gods
Laying his head down on my chest
with longing and intent deep in his eyes
He yearns once again for the touch of his mother
last felt eight times a thousand, years, ago
But his gaze doesn't fall upon my own face
nor is the longing or yearning for me
It's for his mother who lies by my side
whose spirit lies dormant as she sleeps, as she slumbers
My partner - a male
continues to sleep
as the children of Isis
draw close, draw near
Anubis the jackal still lies on my chest
but his hazel brown eyes are fixed on his mother
Sobek is here, a shy timid croc
and so too is Apis, the bull in the corner
For the time being, until she awakes
I will give comfort, I will give love
I scratch under chins, I rub under bellies
and blow warm sweet kisses into hair and to bristles
If she is Isis who lay with Osiris
then I'll be her sister and aunty to these
I will take care of the children for now
Until their own mother can love them once more
with longing and intent deep in his eyes
He yearns once again for the touch of his mother
last felt eight times a thousand, years, ago
But his gaze doesn't fall upon my own face
nor is the longing or yearning for me
It's for his mother who lies by my side
