111. Ke Mo'owahine

At the end of my bed the mo'owahine sits
with long, jet black hair over porcelain skin
and with eyes like obsidian or black lava stone
she waits for me patiently until I awake

In a flurry of dark, misty hurricane smoke
I'm carried away across the great ocean
and touch down in Hawaii in the middle of night
on the banks of a river flanked by shimmering trees

Across broad, flat grey river stones I hop and I step
and find myself entering a massive great hall
filled with nobles relaxing, joking and laughing
but I make way further to a small inner sanctum

And this must be Lohiau husband-to-be
to the Goddess named Pele to be fetched by me
But first I am asked to sing and to dance
and am given a grey pahu carved with cuneiform

Unable to read the writing inscribed
the nobility smile and pronounce the words
and with them I'm singing an ancient old ole
much to the delight of my sister's new groom

101. Pigeon Dove

I start to drift off when all of a sudden
a fat speckled pigeon of white and of black
lands right in front of me and eyes me a smile

I smile back at this cute little thing
with its red eye liner preening its wings
and then does it come to me this little bird
is another new waka or another merkabah

My partner beside me is stricken in bed
with a very sore throat and a very sore head
so as a small person I see myself climb
onto the back of my new feathered ride

"Take me to fetch a cure" I say
and instantly fly way over the moon
We soar and we glide past planets and stars
setting down at the feet of the great Jehovah

A vision of garlic now comes to me
and two simple words are spoken aloud
I'm now with my partner back in my bed
mumbling "Eat garlic" and saying "Be, well"

100. Io

Outside of space and outside a time
a column of Light towers above me
Beneath it a Universe spins anti-clockwise
behind it, one spinning the opposite way

Now in the presence of something Divine
my body is stricken and filled with great fear
Never before has it ever been close
to what many people, might call, our God

I'm deadly still, for fear of moving
I close off my ears in fear of exploding
and simply stand with the greatest humility
beholding a sight, few ever will see...

81. Waiata Dream Voice

Deep in a dream I move bout the house
with a chorus of words leaving my mouth
I radiate love, light and great power
and feel myself lifting up off the floor

With head thrown back and arms out to the side
I rise in the air staring up at the ceiling
and feeling my body beginning to lift
I feel like a cloud of rain and of mist

"This is too easy" I say to myself
and instruct my own body to turn on it's head
Now upside down I begin to descend
blending and moving down into the ground

Down into darkness my body turns upright
where a Lioness statue stands in the corner
Guardian is she of the entrance below
directing my passage with blazing blue eyes

A lobby or room is my destination
but more than enough for my own curiosity
In the hull of a ship I find myself walking
Poseidon or Tangaroa are guiding me now

An anchor and chain hang from the ceiling
where I hold gently to the Heavens above
and I read and I look at words and of images
scrawled and posted across all the walls

But surely enough I feel round my ankle
some sort of entity chaining my leg
and now I'm aware of why I am here
to have one hand in Heaven and a foot down in Hell...
